The CARS team from the early days.

Christian Auto Repair Shop (CARS) is a nonprofit, 501(c)3 Christian ministry, that provides low cost car repairs for single moms, widows, financially limited women, and others who may need special assistance.

CARS has empowered over 400 individuals and families by providing low cost car repairs, enabling them to overcome transportation barriers and thrive in their daily lives.

We are not professional automotive technicians but are volunteers who enjoy repairing automobiles and helping others in need. Some of our volunteers are experienced mechanics while others just enjoy maintaining their car and the camaraderie of fellow car repair enthusiasts.

We charge only for the cost of the parts and supplies required for repair. We purchase car parts from local auto parts supply stores at a discount. These savings are passed on to our guests receiving our services. And, as our guest, you’ll be invited to have lunch, and hang out with us until the repairs are completed!

The CARS story

Hi, I’m Mitch, this is how this ministry got started…

In 2013 I approached a mechanic friend at church and asked him about starting a car ministry that could help out individuals in need of car repairs, focusing upon financially limited single moms, widows and those with a special need. That friend directed me to a similar car ministry he had heard about that had started a few years earlier. It was there, after volunteering for 2 years, that I felt compelled to start a car repair ministry in the southern Twin Cities area with my wife.

In September 2015 CARS, which stands for Christian Auto Repair Shop, was launched. Our desire is to display by example and declare the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Whether you are a guest in need of repair, or a volunteer helping with car repairs or the complementary lunch preparation, we hope everyone will enjoy the fellowship together and that your heart will be encouraged!
